Marston's wife, Elizabeth, and their life partner, Olive Byrne, are credited as being his inspiration for the character's appearance.

Am I just not getting it? Worth noting that the Golden Age Wonder Woman had an unusual emphasis on reforming her villains (with one of the Nazi ones, Paula von Gunther, also being the most notable success.) She could have a more fitting name like Warrior Woman or Amazon Woman. 1.1M subscribers in the DCcomics community.
