Aktor, reżyser, dyrektor teatrów, pedagog, pisarz. Ukończył wydział aktorski (1952) i reżyserski (1956) Państwowej Wyższej Szkoły Teatralnej w Warszawie. Po studiach zaangażował się do Teatru Wybrzeże w Gdańsku, gdzie grał i reżyserował, a w latach 1958–1960 pełnił funkcję kierownika artystycznego.
