Like so many others in Hollywood at the time, Cyd Charisse and husband were staunch firm republicans.
16 de dic. de 2023 · I loved both Cyd Charisse and Leslie Caron in the old musicals. Both of them were my favorites. I remember being startled to see that Rita Hayworth could dance so well, and with Fred Fucking Astaire. Of course Fred and Ginger were in a league of their own.
5 de dic. de 2020 · Cyd was a self-absorbed bitch, although a very fine dancer. Ann was just a good time gal, who loved life, who spoke her mind, slept around a lot and really enjoyed being a Hollywood star. She played the role 24/7.
Of course Cyd Charisse, a former dancer with the Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo, was the better dancer, but unless she was dancing, she was leaden, a problem Ginger Rogers NEVER had. It's also worth nothing that Astaire and Rogers danced together on film for the first time in 1933.

Of course you can see why it was popular with the public and Hollywood — it managed to be a randy, sexy (actively advocating healthy sexual appetites for young women and men) while always staying in the bounds of the censorship rules of the time.
26 de nov. de 2024 · R7 When J-Lo did the video for "If You Want My Love," she was apparently insistent that she get to show off her dance moves, so she made the director add the "dance break" sequence in the middle of the song, which was completely screwed up the song and the tone of the video and ultimately made her look ridiculous.

18 de abr. de 2019 · Though I wonder, if Cyd Charisse did have a gift for comedy, why they didn't consider giving her the ingenue role (making it a sexier newcomer), and then the Broadway Melody sequence less disconnected from the rest of the film. I don't know much about Charisse, so perhaps other folks who do could venture an opinion.
4 de oct. de 2024 · I remember my mom always commenting on a certain guest - Cyd Charisse! or Robert Montgomery! - older stars that were no longer seen much. People wanted to see them. And they did dress up in nice gowns and tuxedos - although people dressed up more back then - there was also a glamour element to it.
