By mid-1983, Israeli press releases had begun to reflect a new shape to Israel’s air force modernization plans. A production run of three hundred Lavi fighters was envisioned, including sixty two-seat fighters that would double as trainers, with the airplane expected to replace Israel’s a-4 Skyhawk and Kfir fighter fleets.

After the cancellation the US government offered the A-10A, AH-64A, AV-8B, F-15I, F-16C/D and UH-60A as replacements for the Lavi, all Israeli wishes that were previously rejected.
