All LAMDA Graded Examinations require external assessment. External assessment is a form of independent assessment where Assessment Criteria for each qualification are set by LAMDA and marked by a LAMDA Examinations Examiner. LAMDA exams are designed to develop necessary skills for communicating dramatic text to an audience. Students develop interpersonal, technical and performance skills that encourage growth in vocal and physical confidence, self-expression and creative work. For the academic year 2022-2023, our LAMDA students achieved 100% distinctions.

There is also a ‘Knowledge’ portion for each LAMDA exam where students gain a deeper understanding of their material as well as theory or performance techniques. For instance, at grades 6 of the Acting, Speaking Verse & Prose and Speaking in Public exams, students are expected to know about voice production and projection.
The most important qualification to teach LAMDA Exams is a passion for communication and the desire to inspire learners of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. The teachers who specialise in LAMDA Exams come from all walks of life. There are no specific training routes to teach LAMDA and we don’t have any joining fees.
