22 de feb. de 2021 · Coming to how Leeds United came to be known as ‘The Peacocks,’ the backstory to it is interesting and different from the usual ones for other clubs. Elland Road, their stadium at the bottom of Beeston Hill since the club’s inception, was then owned by Bentley’s Brewery.
The Peacocks nickname originates from the name of the pub closest to Elland Road, where the club played before 1919. It is now viewed as outdated and the club has other nicknames such as The Whites and United. Fans of other clubs call them Dirty Leeds for their style and rivalries.

The badge was a blue and yellow circle with the clubs name encircling the outside. Within the name was a blue peacock on a yellow background. It wasn’t an overnight hit, but did grow on Leeds fans eventually.

The newly formed club adopted the white and blue colors of Leeds City, which coincidentally resembled the vibrant plumage of the peacock.
