He was given beauty, talent and the opportunity to make the most of his talents, intelligence, people who loved him, all the social advantages of coming from a "good family", friends, success, critical appreciation, etc.

The passage of time has further dimmed his legacy. His rival, Marlon Brando, and his successor, James Dean, are still remembered and hailed as great actors, but Montgomery Clift is nearly forgotten.

Dean looked up to Brando as a mentor/father figure. Brando said as such in his autobiography and in his other conversations with James Grissom (if we’re to believe they actually spoke).

31 de dic. de 2021 · Montgomery Clift was a handsome man. However, his sensitive, tortured soul persona made him an eternal boy, which negates any sexual magneticism and makes him less attractive, IMO. Rock Hudson, in print, was no doubt a handsome man; however, bland.
