Standardized Test Scores. Northwestern will remain test-optional for the 2024–25 admissions cycle. We will not require ACT or SAT scores from first-year or transfer candidates applying for fall 2025 entry. If students choose to take an SAT or ACT, there is no preference for either exam—and will review a “superscore” for both tests.

To be considered for admission to Northwestern, candidates must complete the following steps: Complete the Common Application, the Coalition Application, or the QuestBridge Application. Applications for admission may be submitted before candidates take standardized tests for college admission.
