The piece Wall Drawing #47, designed for the Dwan Gallery in New York in 1969 and executed in June 1970, is one of the most emblematic examples. For LeWitt drawing represented a basic structural unit in all art, where the line was also the most basic unit of drawing.

Multimedia. La primera instalación de Wall Drawing #47 fue dibujada en junio de 1970 por Kazuko Miyamoto, en la Philippe-Guy Wood Residence, en Vasenaz, Ginebra. El Museo Reina Sofía adquirió la obra en 2009, realizando una primera instalación en 2011.
Sol LeWitt's 1982 Wall Drawing #370: Ten Geometric Figures (including right triangle, cross, X, diamond) with three-inch parallel bands of lines in two directions was installed at the Museum over a period of four weeks. The drawing will be on view in its complete state through January 28, 2018, when it will be painted over.
Starting with basic shapes and simple marks, these works are built up until the result "renders form without space," creating a sense of depth while maintaining the physical integrity of the wall. The resulting works reflect the duration of their own making, a slow and deliberate process.
