  3. Hace 2 días · Our hotel was closestest to Kahanamoku Beach, beautiful beach. Took some pictures at the beach and couple of pictures with Duke Paoa Kahanamoku statue. I read a little about him and I am so Impressed, he is the one who introduced surfing, saved peoples lives and an olympic winner and so on.. his achievements are just too many, a real hero and the beach is named after him so well deserved.

Freshwater is part of the Manly-Freshwater National and World Surfing Reserve that recognises the historical, cultural and environmental values of famous surfing beaches. It is where Duke Kahanamoku held his famous 1915 surfing demonstration that popularised surfing in Australia.
