The Takarazuka Revue (Japanese: 宝塚歌劇団, Hepburn: Takarazuka Kagekidan) is a Japanese all-female musical theatre troupe based in Takarazuka, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. Women play all roles in lavish, Broadway-style productions of Western-style musicals and stories adapted from films, novels, shōjo manga, and Japanese folktales.

revue (レビュー); show (ショー) A typical Takarazuka revue tends to open with an ostentatious and upbeat opening number performed by the entire cast, followed by a few smaller numbers and/or solos. The middle section is called the chuuzume, usually again with the entire cast, followed by a few more smaller numbers and/or solos.
From the debut performance in 1914 until our present day, many people have contributed to writing the history of the Takarazuka Revue, including the performers, the fans, and the theater staff. This page serves as a brief overview of the revue company’s history until 2014.
